The Uttarakhand police’s Special Task Force has arrested a pharmacy operator of Muzaffarnagar ( Uttar Pradesh) for supplying banned Tramadol capsules in the State. The arrested individual has been identified as Sachin Manihal, the son of Suresh and a resident of Janakpuri, Muzaffarnagar, UP. He operates the Shri Siddhbali Pharma Store. This arrest represents a significant development in a case initiated at the Manglaur police station in Haridwar on May 11, 2026, after a joint operation by the STF/ANTF team and local police, which recovered 18,000 prohibited Tramadol capsules. A FIR was subsequently registered.
Senior superintendent of police, STF, Ajai Singh, stated that the investigation, supervised by Deputy SP Parvez Ali and conducted by inspector Yadvendra Singh Bajwa, revealed that Manihal was procuring banned Tramadol capsules from various pharmaceutical companies and supplying them throughout Uttarakhand via local contacts in Dehradun and Haridwar. The accused acquired the banned Tramadol capsules from different sources and sold them at significantly inflated prices, generating illegal profits.
Documents obtained during the investigation indicated that between January and May 2026, Manihal spent approximately Rs 35 lakh on purchasing Tramadol capsules from a single pharmaceutical company.
During questioning, Manihal confessed to purchasing and distributing the banned capsules. He was arrested following proper legal procedures. Authorities are now investigating his illegally acquired assets and gathering information about his connections and networks involved in this case. Singh added that the role of other individuals associated with this operation is also under investigation.
Singh urged the public to avoid drugs and refrain from engaging in narcotics smuggling out of greed. He encouraged anyone with information about drug trafficking to contact the nearest police station or reach out to the STF/ANTF Uttarakhand at 0135-2656202 or 9412029536.
