Uttarakhand Police wins national award for excellence in passport verification

Uttarakhand Police has been honoured with the ‘Institutional Performance Award for State Police’ by the Government of India for its outstanding work in passport verification during the financial year 2025-26. The award recognises the State’s excellent performance in conducting timely and efficient police verification for passport applicants.

The award was presented by External Affairs Minister  S Jaishankar at a ceremony held at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan in New Delhi on Saturday. Additional director general of police (Administration) AP Anshuman received the award on behalf of Uttarakhand Police.

Director general of police Deepam Seth said that the achievement is the result of consistent efforts to make the passport verification process transparent, citizen-friendly and time-bound. He said regular monitoring of verification work in all districts, along with the effective use of technology, helped the state achieve top performance at the national level.

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated Uttarakhand Police on the achievement. He said providing quality, transparent and timely services to citizens is the government’s top priority. The CM added that the award reflects the success of these efforts and expressed confidence that Uttarakhand police will continue to set high standards in public service in the future.
