Bhargav Mallappa, National President (Youth) of Akhil Bharatiya Gau Raksha Mahasangh, has sought the intervention of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in an alleged organised cybercrime involving a targeted phishing attack through the Telegram messaging platform. In a representation submitted to the PMO, he has requested a fair, impartial and time-bound investigation into the matter.
Mallappa stated that he had earlier lodged a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, which was acknowledged by the Cyber Police Station, New Delhi District, under Acknowledgement No. 22904260036238.
According to the representation, Mallappa received a suspicious Telegram link carrying the identifier “RAGINBHARGAVBHARGAV” on April 11, 2026. He claimed that the same link was simultaneously sent to the mobile phones of his wife and his brother-in-law, suggesting that the incident was a coordinated phishing attempt aimed at compromising their personal information, digital devices and financial credentials.
He further stated that screenshots, phishing links and other digital evidence have already been uploaded to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. Mallappa also alleged that information relating to an individual suspected to be connected with the incident has been provided to the authorities. The allegations are part of his complaint and have not been independently verified. The investigating agencies have not made any public findings in the matter.
In his representation, Mallappa urged the PMO to direct the concerned authorities to ensure a comprehensive and time-bound probe and to initiate appropriate legal action against those found responsible under the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and other applicable laws.
He also called for strengthening India’s cyber security framework, improving public awareness about phishing attacks and enhancing coordination among investigative agencies to tackle organised cyber fraud. Expressing confidence in the Government’s commitment to combating cybercrime, Mallappa said he hopes the matter will receive due attention in the interest of justice and public safety.
