A high level enquiry is underway in the Badrinath donation theft case and one accused has already been arrested. However, the Congress is still tyring to find a political opportunity in this, the Bharatiya Janata Party said.
The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that whenever the Congress was in power, question were raised about the system in temples, the faith of religious institution and devotees. “The Congress should first clarify why serious complaints were lodged when the current Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal was the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee chairman from 2012 to 2017. Why did a member of the committee at that time submit a written complaint if everything was transparent and as per the rules at that time? Why wasn’t an inquiry not ordered if everything was clear? Weren’t questions raised at appointments, financial approvals and administrative decisions when Godiyal was the BKTC chairman? The political character of the Congress is weird. It calls for a probe when the actions of its leaders are questioned but it declares the judgement before an inquiry when the allegations are levelled against the BJP,” Chauhan said.
He said that the Congress should clarify whose decision it was to regularise the accused Pramod Nautiyal in 2014. He said that the Congress is tying to divert the issue by stating that “thieves have no caste” while the BJP has never tried to save an accused on the basis of caste or position.
