Women from Nepal and India shared successful innovations in their areas while agreeing to work together on women entrepreneurship, training and livelihood in the future. They said this during a Bharat-Nepal Maitri Baithak held in Darchula area of Nepal to further strengthen the traditional relations between the two nations and lend a new direction to the social, economic and cultural upliftment of women in border areas.
The meeting held in Nepal’s region bordering Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district was attended by Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha’s Uttarakhand president Ruchi Bhatt along with a party headed from the State. The financial empowerment of women, self-employment, skill development and the role of self help groups was discussed in detail during the event.
The Lakhpati Didi campaign was among the aspects discussed in the meeting with speakers stating that this initiative under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as an effective medium for bringing about the desired economic change in the lives of women.
The Government of India is facilitating measures like bank loans to women self help groups, training, marketing assistance, digital payment, product branding and enhancement through various government schemes to lend pace to the financial empowerment and independence of women.
Women representatives from India and Nepal stressed that the social and cultural similarities between the border areas are the biggest strength of the friendship between the two nations. Planned interactions between the communities in India and Nepal further strengthen communication between women, exchange of skills, economic cooperation and social coordination.
The need for joint efforts to boost women entrepreneurship, education, health, skill development and self-employment in the border areas of the two nations were also deliberated upon in detail during the interaction.
