Some of the seats reserved for undergraduate (UG) courses at DAV PG College, in sufficient numbers, are expected to remain vacant due to unavoidable circumstances, principal Kaushal Kumar stated. He provided detailed information about the admission process, which is currently underway following the declaration of the first merit list. Kumar said that it was initially decided that the admission process would close on August 1. However, due to heavy rainfall, many candidates were unable to come in time for their admissions. As a result, the college has extended the admission deadline to August 5. He said that it is possible the admission date may be further extended after August 5.
Regarding the status of UG seats at the college, Kumar said that as of August 4, 1591 students have enrolled in UG courses. Of these, 657 have enrolled in BA, 647 in BCom, 121 in BSc (Biology), 137 in BSc (Math) and 29 in BSc (IT). This year, approximately 3,900 seats are available in UG courses. However, it is expected that some seats will remain vacant. Considering this, once the admission process concludes, the college will request Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University to oversee the situation and send a list of students for the vacant seats, Kumar said.
Reports indicated that there have been some errors in the admission process due to the Smarth Portal. Kumar said that some students selected incorrect subjects on the portal that are not offered at the college. However, the college is enrolling these admissions and will compile a list of affected students to send to the university for necessary changes.
Notably, the admission process at the college recently began and is open daily from 10:30 AM to 2 PM. Admissions are being conducted based on the Common University Entrance Test(CUET).
