Lauding Haryana’s work in the field of cooperatives, especially the innovations being implemented in the banking sector and public welfare schemes, the State Cooperative minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that his state would work together with Haryana in the cooperative sector to take things on. “This cooperation will give a new impetus to the cooperative movement in both these states,” he affirmed.
Notably, he visited the headquarters of Haryana State Cooperative Apex Bank Limited in Chandigarh on Wednesday. During a meeting with senior officials, he inquired about the bank’s operations, digital services and schemes related to the economic empowerment of farmers, women, and youth.
In a statement issued after his visit, Rawat said that experiences would be exchanged between the two states in the cooperative sector. He also shared information about the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Short-Term and Medium-Term Loan Distribution Scheme run by the Haryana government and explained that under this scheme, interest-free loans are being provided to farmers, benefiting them while strengthening their economy.
On this occasion, the chairman of the Haryana State Cooperative Bank, Bharat Bhushan Juyal spoke of Uttarakhand’s achievements in the cooperative sector. “The cooperative movement, guided by Rawat, has reached the masses in Uttarakhand through innovation, transparency and farmer-friendly schemes,” he stated. He particularly hailed the zero-interest loan scheme, modernisation of cooperative institutions and digital initiatives, noting that these efforts are being discussed in Haryana and other states as well.
During the meeting, the bank officials gave power-point presentations highlighting the bank’s achievements, financial inclusion, digital banking, schemes for farmers, and the Haryana government’s efforts to make cooperative banking more effective through a multi-pronged approach.
Among those present at the meeting were the managing director of Haryana State Co-operative Bank, Prafull Ranjan; general manager Urvashi Gupta, deputy general manager Sudha Sharma and manager Jaspal Panwar along with other bank officials.
