Architect Manbar Singh Negi of Ramnagar has been elected the chairman of the Uttarakhand Chapter of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), securing 73 per cent of the votes. The elections were held from September 1 to 3. In the new executive committee, Akhilesh Kumar has been elected vice-chairman, Subodh Dobhal treasurer and Kanav Kumar Aggarwal joint secretary.
After his victory, Negi said the new team would focus on increasing the participation of young and women architects, promoting professional development and strengthening coordination with government institutions.
Following the election, Negi is representing Uttarakhand at the ARCASIA Conference being held in Agra. He has also been given the responsibility of the observer in the ARCASIA committee on social responsibility.
