Maa Ganga Bungy sealed over multiple safety lapses

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ New Tehri

The district administration has sealed the jumping site known as Maa Ganga Bungy at Mulyagaon in Tehri following an inspection. It revealed serious shortcomings in safety arrangements.

Emergency medical equipment was found missing from the site, while the absence of a designated parking facility had forced vehicles to be parked along the national highway. Officials also found deficiencies in compliance with prescribed safety standards.

Following the inspection, the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), Kirtinagar, Pankaj Bhatt ordered the sealing of the site, citing the safety of tourists and the general people. He said adventure tourism operators must strictly comply with prescribed safety norms, maintain essential technical and emergency facilities and obtain the necessary permissions before conducting such activities. “Negligence in matters concerning public safety will not be tolerated,” he said.

The administration asked the operators not to resume bungy jumping activities until further orders are issued by the competent authority.
