Cabinet minister Rekha Arya, admitted to a private medical centre, continued to suffer from high blood pressure on Friday, State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) chairwoman Dr Geeta Khanna said. Khanna is also the founder of the medical centre where Arya is admitted.
Arya has filed a case against her husband Girdhari Lal Sahu, accusing him of assault, domestic violence, harassment and death threats. Citing an audio recording, she has also accused him of plotting her murder. Following this, Arya was admitted late on Thursday night to the private medical centre after complaints of high blood pressure and uneasiness.
Giving an update on the minister’s health, Khanna said Arya’s condition is still not ideal and her blood pressure continues to remain high. It reduced slightly with medication but rises again. ECG changes persist and further tests are planned. The ECG is being continuously monitored, she said.
Khanna said that Arya has been kept in ICU-like monitoring as a large number of people are coming to meet her. Continuous monitoring of blood pressure and other vitals is being done in the room itself.
She said that when Arya was admitted, it was for chest pain and high blood pressure and they were not aware of any such incident at that time. “She was very sick and that is why we admitted her.
Khanna added that Arya never had a history of high blood pressure and she came with BP above 200, which is termed accelerated hypertension. The condition is definitely linked to mental stress. At present, her health is not good and it is also affecting her heart, she said.
