The party to hold a march towards Raj Bhawan today

The order of the Uttarakhand High Court (HC) for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry in an issue related to Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has given fresh ammunition to the Congress party. On Wednesday all the leaders of the state Congress were united in demanding immediate removal of Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.  The party has decided to hold a massive march to Raj Bhavan on Thursday. The Congress party had requested time from Governor Baby Rani Maurya on the issue which according to the party leaders was refused by the governor.

The state in charge of the Congress party, Devendra Yadav who is on a three day visit to the state addressed a press conference at the state headquarters of the party here on Wednesday. He was accompanied by the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh, leader of opposition (LoP) in Uttarakhand Congress Indira Hridayesh and other leaders of Congress party. Launching an acid dripping attack on the BJP government of Uttarakhand, Yadav said that the real face of the Trivendra Singh Rawat government which harped about ‘zero tolerance on corruption’ has got exposed from the HC order. He said that the Congress party has regularly brought into fore the sharp difference in the action and utterances of the BJP government. Yadav said that the issue related to transfer of money into the bank accounts of those close to chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat during the time when he was in charge of Jharkhand is very serious. He said that the BJP government was regularly denying these allegations and had even lodged FIR against the person who levelled these charges and now the HC has ordered CBI inquiry in the case and directed that a FIR should be registered within two days. Former CM Harish Rawat said that CM Trivendra Singh Rawat should resign to ensure a free and fair probe on the issue. He said that BJP should take the moral responsibility on the matter and the CM has no moral authority to continue on the chair. The former CM added that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah should direct CM to step down and expressed hope that the governor of Uttarakhand would stand with justice.  Terming the decision of Uttarakhand HC as a historic one, PCC president Pritam Singh said that the state unit of Congress party had brought the reality behind ‘zero tolerance on corruption’ rhetoric from time to time both inside the assembly and outside it. The LoP Indira Hridayesh said that the HC has put the state government on the dock.

Former PCC president Kishore Upadhyaya and co- in-charge of Uttarakhand Congress Rajesh Dharmani were also present on the occasion.
