Winter session of assembly: Supplementary budget of Rs 4063.89 Crore tabled

House pays tributes to Salt MLA Jeena and four former members

A supplementary budget of Rs 4063.89 Crore was tabled in the Uttarakhand assembly on the first day of the winter session on Monday. The house moved a condolence motion to pay homage to Salt MLA, Surendra Singh Jeena and four former members who had recently passed away. After paying homage, the house was adjourned for the day. The question hour and Zero hour remained suspended as after placing the supplementary budget the house paid homage to Jeena and four former members, K C Punetha, Anusuya Prasad Maikhuri, Sunderlal Mandarwal and Tejpal Singh Panwar. The leader of the house and chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat attended the session virtually as he is in home isolation after being detected positive for the disease. Remembering Jeena, the CM said that he was a young, energetic and dedicated leader. He said that Jeena had a unique method of greetings and his untimely departure has made everyone sad. Paying homage to former deputy speaker of Uttarakhand assembly Anusuya Prasad Maikhuri, the CM said that he was very humble and a gentleman. Remembering an incident of 2002-03, the CM said that he suffered an injury during an agitation and at that time Maikhuri held his hand and asked him to visit hospital. Rawat said that the former MLA Sunder Lal Mandarwal was a true Gandhian and was associated with the grassroots. He said that former MLA Tejpal Singh Panwar was a straight talking individual who never relied on falsehood. All members of the treasury benches and opposition took part in the proceedings to pay tributes to Jeena and former members of the house.

Earlier in the day, the Congress MLA from Manglaur, Qazi Nizamuddin raised a point of order and questioned the propriety of tabling the supplementary budget on the day when the assembly would give pay homage to one sitting and four former members.
