BJP’s Thukral, Phartyal embarrass govt
The members of the ruling party are continuing to embarrass the state government in the winter session of Uttarakhand assembly. On Wednesday the BJP MLA from Rudrapur, Rajkumar Thukral gave a notice under rule 300 on alleged corruption in construction of roads in State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (SIIDCUL) area in his constituency. He said that the previous Congress government gave permission to construct two roads on July 26, 2013 and entrusted SIIDCUL to construct them.
The SIIDCUL made the Uttar Pradesh Rajkeeya Nirman Nigam Limited (UPRNNL) as a work execution agency which gave a contract to Bhati Woodhill Construction Company. He alleged that one of the roads constructed by the company was of very poor quality while the work on other road has not started but the company has received full payment for it. Talking to the media persons outside the Vidhan Sabha building, Thukral said that he was forced to raise the issue in Vidhan Sabha as his pleas have not been heeded by officials. Meanwhile the BJP MLA from Lohaghat, Puran Singh Phartiyal who appears determined to embarrass the government of his party said on Wednesday that he has written a letter to Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on corruption in the Tanakpur- Jauljibi road. He claimed that the estimate of the road from 30.6 km to 55 km is highly inflated and it appears that the DPR of the project was made without visiting the site.
Phartiyal on Monday had said that the Salt MLA was not accorded a funeral with state honours. On Tuesday, the Almora MLA and deputy speaker Raghunath Singh Chauhan had brought a breach of privilege motion against Almora District Magistrate.
