Heavy snowfall likely in higher altitudes today
Cold day conditions are likely to occur at a few places while heavy snowfall is also likely in the high altitude regions of the state on Tuesday. According to the State meteorological department, while light to moderate rain/snowfall is likely to occur at most places in the state today, heavy snowfall is likely to occur at places situated at altitudes of 3000 metres and above. Further, hail/lightning is likely to occur at isolated places especially in Dehradun, Pauri, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts of Uttarakhand.
According to the weather forecast, while snowfall is likely to occur at places situated at altitudes of 1,600 metres and above in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts, it is likely to be experienced at places located at altitudes of 2,200 metres and above in the remaining districts. In Dehradun, the sky is forecast to remain partly to generally cloudy with the possibility of rain/thunderstorm accompanied with hail. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Dehradun are likely to be about 20 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees Celsius respectively.
Meanwhile, on Monday the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places of the state were 24.7 degrees Celsius and nine degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun with trace rainfall, 21.2 degrees Celsius and 12.5 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 12.6 degrees Celsius and 3.2 degrees Celsius with trace rainfall in Mukteshwar, 16.6 degrees Celsius and 6.6 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
