Police to serve Pahadi dishes in its mess
In order to encourage traditional dishes of Uttarakhand while also maintaining nutritional value of the food served to the men and women in uniform, the director general of police, Ashok Kumar has directed that Pahadi dishes be served in all police mess once a week.
The DGP has issued a circular to all the district police in-charge directing that traditional Uttarakhandi food be prepared in all district, unit, police station/post and detachment mess once a week.
The DGP said that the traditional dishes of Uttarakhand are considered very beneficial from both the nutritional and taste points of view. Introducing the traditional dishes in the police mess will encourage the local produce on the one hand and on the other hand it will also benefit the health of the Uttarakhand police personnel, said the DGP.
It is pertinent to mention here that the traditional dishes of Garhwal and Kumaon are not only high in nutritional value but also quite popular for their taste.
