B.Ed compulsion removed for drawing teachers

USSSC to issue amended recruitment advt.

In an important decision, the Uttarakhand government has removed the compulsion of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree for the post of drawing and art teachers in the government schools of the state. The unemployed graduates of drawing, painting and fine arts were demanding that the B.Ed degree should not be compulsory for appointing drawing teachers in the state.

The chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had recently directed the education department to remove the compulsion of the B.Ed degree for the post of drawing teachers. On the orders of the CM, the secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram issued a notification for removal of clause of compulsion of B Ed degree from the Uttarakhand Subordinate education (trained graduate category) service regulation- 2014 for the post of drawing teachers on Thursday.

The Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (USSSC) had recently advertised 1428 posts of Licensed Teachers (LT) on various posts of teachers in school education department. In this the compulsion of B.Ed was made for drawing, painting and fine art teachers. The commission would now release amended advertisement. The secretary of the commission Santosh Badoni said that the advertisement for students of drawing, painting and fine arts would be released within days of receipt of amended regulations from the state administration.
