Uttarakhand adds 147 ventilators, 500 ICU & 2500 Oxygen beds in one month

Battling to contain a sharp surge in the contagion of Covid-19 especially in recent days, the health department of Uttarakhand has added 147 ventilators, 500 ICU beds and 2500 oxygen beds in the last one month. Giving information about the steps taken by the state government during the pandemic, the secretary health Amit Negi said on Sunday that on April 1 last year the state had 216 ICU beds, 116 ventilators and 673 oxygen supported beds which increased to 836 ICU beds, 695 ventilators and 3535 oxygen beds on April 1 this year. He claimed that now the state has 1336 ICU beds, 842 ventilators and 6002 oxygen supported beds. About the requirement of oxygen in the state, the secretary informed that it has jumped to 100 metric tonnes from 15-20 metric tonnes in just one month. He claimed the state has adequate capability to provide oxygen for the patients. He said that on April 1 last year, the state had 1193 type 2 oxygen cylinders which while it now has 9917 such cylinders. Negi added that the state had 275 oxygen concentrators on April 1 last year, 1275 in April this year and now the state has 3275 concentrators. He said that 13200 Remdesivir injections have been made available and for them the state plane had been sent twice to Ahmedabad.  

The Inspector General (IG) Police, Amit Sinha said that in the last two days the police have received 147 complaints of overpricing of pulse oximeters and it has registered cases. He assured that strict action would be taken against those involved in black marketing of pulse oximeters, medicines and oxygen. Informing about home isolation and contact tracing the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Ridhim Agarwal said that phone calls are being made to all people in home isolation and in the last six days 26000 people are in home isolation. She claimed that the SDRF team of SDRF makes about 5000 calls daily and makes arrangements for consultation with doctors of the patients who need it.
