The building of the Industrial Training Institute and about half a dozen shops sustained severe damage following cloudburst at Devprayag in Tehri district on Tuesday. The director general of police, Ashok Kumar informed that the ITI building and seven to eight shops had suffered severe damage.
However, as the shops were closed due to the Covid curfew, no loss of life was reported. The State Disaster Response Force had reached the affected area to provide necessary relief. Meanwhile, chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat directed the district administration and police to reach the affected area and provide relief to the affected people.
The CM has also sought a detailed report on the damage caused by the natural disaster. It is pertinent to mention that Devprayag, the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers is an important pilgrimage centre.
