In view of the possibility of children getting affected most during the third wave of the pandemic of Covid 19, the Mahant Indiresh hospital here has prepared 300 beds for children. The Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr Anil Kumar Dhawan said that the health experts are predicting a possible third wave of Corona in October this year. “We have prepared 55 beds, 35 high flow oxygen beds with Bipap and 10 ICU beds exclusively for children. A separate ward has been prepared for the treatment of Covid suspected children,’’ he said.
The Head of Department of Paediatrics, Dr Utkarsh Sharma said that the hospitals will have to change their plans to deal with the possible third wave affecting the children more.
“While admitting children in the hospital, a family member will have to stay along with the child and arrangement for this should be made. The guideline will have to encompass the suitable arrangement for the stay and meals of that family member. Such an arrangement will prevent the spread of infection. On the other hand, if many family members come to the hospital from home and go back, this will pose a serious threat of spreading Covid infection in the society,’’ he said.
The hospital has kept an advanced life support system ready to transport children by ambulance along with appropriate medicines and equipment. An Oxygen tank of 20,000 Kilograms capacity has been installed by the hospital. Necessary equipment and systems are being installed at the Pediatric ICUs of the hospital to treat Covid-1
