In addition to offering free consultation for female voters on polling day, Sanjay Maternity Centre will continue to offer this free service on February 15 and 16. The female voters will have to show the indelible ink on their finger. According to Dr Sujata Sanjay similar free consultation was also provided during the elections in 2017 and 2019 while along with free consultation, 20 per cent discount will also be provided to female voters on operation and medicines.
Consultant, obstetrician and gynecologist, at Sanjay Orthopaedic, Spine and Maternity Centre, Dr Sujata Sanjay said that the centre has been undertaking this measure to encourage voting. Women play a vital and decisive role in the elections in the hilly districts of the state as generally their voting percentage is higher than that of men. She said that women play an important role in building a prosperous society. Today, an increasing number of women are voting independently and do not consult their husbands on who to vote for. Women voters making their own voting decisions have led political parties to promise special welfare measures related to women’s education, health, employment and safety in public places, she added.
