No vehicles allowed within 100 metres of the vote-counting site today

The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Janmejaya Khanduri has restricted any movement of vehicles within 100 metres range of the voting counting site set up at Maharana Pratap Sports College in Raipur in view of the vote counting on Thursday. Over 600 police personnel have been deployed in and outside the vote counting site under the safety arrangements of the police. Khanduri conducted a briefing for the police personnel deployed for security purposes on the vote counting day. He directed all the deployed personnel to reach their position for duty by 6 AM. He said that the Circle Officer (CO) of Nehru Colony and in-charge of Raipur Police Station will ensure no unnecessary crowd gathers on the roads outside the vote counting site. Only authorised persons should be allowed inside after thorough checking and even the police personnel appointed on security duty of candidates must not be allowed to enter with them. The representatives of the candidates must also not be allowed to enter with items like mobile phones, briefcases or any flammable material. He said that a perimeter of 100 metres has been marked around the site as a pedestrian zone where no vehicle of any kind must be allowed.He said that the counting site has been divided into two parts for safety reasons- inner cordon and outer cordon which will be monitored by SP (rural) Kamlesh Upadhyay, SP (city) Sarita Dobhal and Additional Superintendent of Police (Communications) Mukesh Thakur. He further informed that seven barriers have been set up under security arrangements in the outer cordon and five parking spaces have been set up outside the counting site for party agents, media personnel and others. Three mobile parties will also be stationed between the barriers and one will be deployed outside the site. The Superintendent of Police (traffic) Akshay Konde will manage the traffic outside these zones, added Khanduri.
