Thursday, 05 May | PNS | Pauri

On the second day of his Uttarakhand visit, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath attended the Mundan ceremony of his nephew Anant Bisht at his native village of Panchur in the Yamkeshwar block of Pauri district on Wednesday. He also interacted with the villagers on the occasion. Cabinet minister Prem Chand Agrawal also visited Panchur to meet Adityanath. Later, the UP chief minister inaugurated Patanjali’s Ved Life Nirayam, a modern centre of integrated therapy in Jamli Pokhri village.Speaking on the occasion, Adityanath said that about 15 years ago this was a dry site but greenery is now visible with the construction of the wellness centre. He said that such centres should be established in other parts of the State too. The whole region can become a global attraction for medical, herbal and eco-tourism. The produce here is grown without chemicals. Even during the British colonial era, tuberculosis patients were sent to the mountains so that the pure air could aid their treatment. The UP chief minister said, “Earlier the farming in this area was good but now the mountains are becoming desolate due to migration. Along with the government, the voluntary and charitable organisations will also have to come forward and work for checking migration.”

He further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of water in every home is becoming concrete. He observed that the rivers which used to flow here in the past are now dry, stressing on the need for measures like tree plantation, construction of check dams and rain water harvesting among other steps. Adityanath also appreciated Yoga Guru Ramdev for facilitating water supply at the Patanjali wellness centre which is accessed after a two kilometre climb.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramdev said that the entire Uttarakhand and the Yamkeshwar region is proud of Yogi Adityanath. He said, “Such wellness centres have been established in Haridwar and Gurugram. Using Yoga and Ayurved, we have cured people and given them freedom from allopathic medicines.”

Acharya Balkrishna, cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat, Yamkeshwar MLA Renu Bisht, former chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and various district officials were also present on the occasion.
