After dry spell, heavy rain likely in 5 districts today

After a brief dry spell lasting two days in various parts of the state which resulted in a rise in the maximum temperatures, heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast in parts of five districts on Wednesday. The State meteorological centre has issued a warning (alert) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places in Chamoli, Bageshwar, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag and Dehradun districts today.Another warning (watch) has also been issued regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense showers likely to occur at isolated places in the state’s mountainous regions. Apart from this, light to moderate rainfall/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in the mountains of Garhwal region, at many places in mountains of Kumaon region and at isolated places in the plains.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience partly to generally cloudy skies. Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur, which may be intense/heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Tuesday were 36.3 degrees Celsius and 25.8 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 36.4 degrees Celsius and 26.5 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 24.5 degrees Celsius and 15.7 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 26.2 degrees Celsius and 17.2 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
