The additional director general of police (Crime, Law and Order) V Murugesan directed police in-charges of all districts and Garhwal and Kumaon ranges to ensure communal harmony and maintain law and order during Eid-e-Milad on Friday.
The ADG held a video conference with senior police officials of all districts, including Garhwal and Kumaon ranges, to review security arrangements for Eid-e-Milad and the status of pending investigations on Thursday. He directed all district police in-charges to ensure communal harmony and maintain law and order during the festival. Officials were also instructed to ensure all preparation like holding meetings with officials concerned and peace committees at the police station level, prepare traffic plans to manage crowd movement and ensure processions follow traditional routes. He also directed to prevent inconvenience caused by fireworks in public places.
The ADG also said that pending investigations delay justice to victims and must be resolved within a fixed timeline. He directed district heads to personally monitor the progress of such cases and prioritise their disposal.
The ADG directed them to complete action under the Gangster Act in coordination with respective district magistrates without delay. He also asked both range officers to review pending investigations, including those over two years old, under their direct supervision and ensure timely completion. Officers showing negligence or delay in investigations will be held accountable and dealt with as per rules, he added.
