The programme director of State Mission for Clean Ganga, Namami Gange, Uttarakhand, Vishal Mishra held a review meeting on solid waste management and liquid waste management with the officials of Municipal Corporation of Haldwani, Nagar Panchayat, municipal councils and Peyjal Nigam here on Saturday.
In the meeting, he directed GPS be installed compulsorily in all the trucks used for septic disposal and operating within the municipal corporation limits. Besides, he stressed on the mandatory registration of all private vehicles. Further, all the urban local bodies have been directed to implement the protocol of septic management.
Mishra directed that all the pending proposals for STP up-gradation in Nainital district should be sent to the State Mission for Clean Ganga through the District Ganga Committee as soon as possible.
Instructions have been given to send proposals for disposal of pending cases for Bageshwar and Almora districts to SMCG through the District Ganga Committee so that their approval could be obtained from the Centre.
Solid waste should be disposed of daily in all ULBs while legacy waste should be removed as quickly as possible and their proposals should be submitted to the Directorate for approval, he said.
Following the meeting, Mishra inspected a number of rivulets accompanied by senior officers.
He declared here that the Namami Gange project is working on solid waste management and liquid waste management, the objective of which is to keep the Ganga and its tributaries clean.
