Thousands of milk producers were relieved with the Dairy Development minister Saurabh Bahuguna having postponed the order to increase cattle feed rates. Notably, the president of Dugdh Utpadak Sahkari Sangh Ltd, Mukesh Bora had met Bahuguna and demanded reconsideration of the rate hike order in the interest of livestock farmers. “The minister agreed and postponed the order,” Bora said and thanked the minister.
Bora further stated that the dairy farmers are currently facing financial difficulties due to the rains and natural disasters. “Considering the upcoming festival season, it was not appropriate to impose additional financial burdens on these farmers. We are happy that the minister decided to keep things on hold for the time being,” he said, adding that about 34,000 dairy farmers in Nainital district and 55,000 across the state would benefit from this decision.
