The Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) minister Rekha Arya said the efficiency of the State’s Anganwadi centres will be enhanced with the appointment of over 7,000 workers and assistants. She said this while inaugurating the newly constructed buildings of three Anganwadi centres in Haldwani city area. Each building has been constructed at a cost of Rs 18.57 lakh.

Arya emphasised that Anganwadi centres are more than just physical structures; they play a vital role in shaping the future of Uttarakhand by ensuring that children are healthy, educated and culturally aware. She underscored that these centres bear the primary responsibility for providing adequate nutrition and education to children, which is essential for fostering skilled human resources in the state.

Additionally, she urged Anganwadi workers and assistants to prioritise the promotion of the Single Women Self-Employment Scheme. She said that information about this scheme should be spread to as many eligible women in your area as possible so that they can set up their own employment by getting government assistance.
