Bannu Biradari prepares for Dussehra in Dehradun

The president of the Bannu Biradari Dussehra committee, Santokh Singh Nagpal claimed that the State’s tallest effigy of Ravan, standing 111 feet, will be burnt this year on October 2 at the Parade Ground in Dehradun. He said this while discussing the preparations for the event.
Nagpal informed that preparations for the Dussehra celebration, which falls on October 2 this year, have been underway for the last 10 days. Two teams have been commissioned to create the effigies of Ravan, Kumbhkaran and Meghnad. One team is from Delhi, while the other is from Agra. He stated that this year, the tallest effigy of Ravan, measuring 111 feet, will be burned at the Parade Ground during the event. Additionally, the effigies of Kumbhkaran and Meghnad will be 75 and 70 feet tall, respectively. Nagpal added that preparations for the Ravan effigy have already started, while the constructions for Kumbhkaran and Meghnad will commence shortly now as the teams have arrived in Dehradun on Saturday.
He emphasised that all three effigies will be fully prepared within the next 10 days. Nagpal said that approximately Rs 20- 25 lakh will be spent to ensure the event’s success, which includes expenses for barricading and the Shobha Yatra.
The Shobha Yatra will take place on October 2 and 3, commencing from Macchi Bazaar and covering Paltan Bazaar and other related routes, culminating at the Parade Ground. He also informed that the governor and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami have been invited to this event. Barricades will be established for crowd control. Further, he assured that once the event concludes, the committee will ensure that the Parade Ground is thoroughly cleaned the following morning. He indicated that both normal and eco-friendly crackers will be used for the effigies burning.
