In view of their long-standing demands, the Rajkiya Shikshak Sangh (RSS) has announced that on September 17, they will gherao the secretariat in a demonstration accompanied by drums and traditional instruments, expecting the participation of around 20,000 teachers. Various political parties and social organisations will also be in attendance.
According to officials, an online meet of RSS Uttarakhand was held to strategise for the future. It was decided unanimously that if the government conducts any examinations, no member of the RSS will participate. The organisation finds the government’s neglect unacceptable and has made a firm decision regarding upcoming events.
On September 14, the RSS will address the issue of direct recruitment in 13 districts and will host a significant programme at the holy ghat of the Ganga in Haridwar district. Further, it was clearly stated in the meeting that members of the RSS Uttarakhand would only take part in teaching duties and disciplinary action will be imposed on anyone acting against the organisation’s rules, they added.
The officials expressed concern that students still have not received their textbooks, while teachers of essential subjects are being assigned to VLO duties. Prioritising student interests, the RSS is committed to advocating for these issues.
It should be recalled that in response to their pending demands, the RSS recently organised a press conference where officials claimed that if the government fails to promote teachers and address their requests, they will proceed to surround the Secretariat in September and perform Tarpan in Haridwar against the principal departmental direct recruitment rules.
