Bhatt condemns USCIRF hearing targeting Dhami, Yogi & Himanta

The president of Uttarakhand BJP, Mahendra Bhatt has said that the hearing on the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) in which chief ministers of three Indian states were targeted is an attack from a foreign platform on the strongest voices of Hindutva in the country.
He said that during the hearing USCIRF, a leftist-liberal activist, Raqib Ahmed Naik, made statements against Hindutva ideology, nationalist organizations and India’s democratic governments and demanded imposing a ban on Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
He said that these CMs have consistently spoken openly about Hindu culture, Sanatan tradition and national interest. “At the USCIRF hearing, organizations like the RSS, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad were also targeted. This raises the question: why is the call for the protection of religion and culture so irritating to some people,’’ he asked.
Bhatt said that in Uttarakhand, CM Dhami has taken a tough stand on issues like the Uniform Civil Code, illegal encroachments and religious conversions. In Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath has instilled fear of the law by taking action against the mafia and fundamentalism. In Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma has consistently raised issues like infiltration and population imbalance.
Bhatt said it’s unfortunate that those who fail to win the public’s trust in India’s democratic system resort to tarnishing the country’s image on foreign platforms.
“The people of the country are now realizing that the target isn’t just three Chief Ministers. The target is the very mind-set that sees India as connected to its roots, its culture and its civilization. The truth is that the day India stands united to protect its culture and eternal traditions, those who have always been troubled by India’s roots become uneasy,’’ he said.
