The Bharatiya Janata Party said that the recognition received by Uttarakhand in the mining sector is a slap on Congress’ false propaganda following the State’s inclusion in the list of states eligible for a Rs 100 crore reward from the Central government.
The BJP media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s transparent policies have led to a record increase in mining revenue. He said that the sector, which earlier benefited the mafia, now contributes directly to the State’s economy.
Chauhan added that in 2019–20, the mining revenue was less than Rs 400 crore, while in the financial year 2024–25, the State earned over Rs 1,000 crore from the sector. He stated that Uttarakhand’s performance in the State Mining Preparedness Index 2025 released by the Union Ministry of Mines reflects administrative efficiency and policy transparency.
The index evaluates States on parameters such as mining reforms, transparency, environmental balance and administrative effectiveness. Uttarakhand secured a leading position among Category C States along with Punjab and Tripura. He said that the government ensured transparency in mining lease allocations and digitised mineral transportation systems to make them accountable.
The State took strict action against illegal mining to prevent revenue loss. Chauhan added that this recognition demonstrates effective financial management and e-governance under the Dhami government, which aims to utilise resources efficiently for public benefit.
He said that Uttarakhand’s approach shows that the government has maintained a balance between environmental protection and economic growth and the State is progressing steadily toward becoming one of the leading States in the current decade.
