Cabinet approves hike in stipend for MBBS interns in government medical colleges

The cabinet approved hiking the monthly stipend of MBBS interns in government medical colleges from Rs 17,000 to a minimum of Rs 25,000. Uttarakhand currently operates five government medical colleges- Srinagar, Haldwani, Dehradun, Haridwar and Almora, offering MBBS and PG courses.
Informing the media about the decisions taken by the cabinet chaired by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in its meeting on Friday, director general of Information Banshidhar Tiwari said that under section 105 of the Electricity Act 2003 of the Department of Energy and Alternative Energy, there is a provision for placing the annual report of the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission on the table of the Legislative Assembly. In compliance with this, the cabinet approved the proposal regarding placing the annual report of the commission for the year 2024-25 on the table of the Assembly in the upcoming Assembly session.
Under section 104(4) of the Electricity Act 2003, under the Department of Energy and Alternative Energy, there is a provision for laying the annual accounts of the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission on the table of the Legislative Assembly. In compliance with this, the cabinet approved the proposal regarding laying the annual accounts of the Commission for the year 2024-25 on the table of the Legislative Assembly in the upcoming Assembly session.
The cabinet also approved the proposal to amend the Uttarakhand Prison Administration and Reform Services Department Group A and B Service Rules, 2026.
In the structure of Prison Administration and Reforms Department, Uttarakhand, it was proposed to amend the currently prevalent service rules with the aim of incorporating 01 newly created post of additional inspector general of prisons for the correctional wing under the Prison department of the Home department in the cadre structure. In the interest of the department and employees, the proposal for promulgation of Uttarakhand Prison Administration and Reforms Services Department group A and B Service Rules, 2026 was given consent by the cabinet.
The cabinet also approved re-determination of rates of fees payable to Government Advocates engaged in the Supreme Court, High Court and subordinate courts. Regarding re-determination of the rates of fees to be paid to the government advocates attached to the Uttarakhand High Court, the Supreme Court and subordinate offices of Uttarakhand State, as per the decision taken in the meeting of the seven-member review committee constituted under the chairmanship of the chief secretary, the cabinet approved the proposal for increase in the fees of government advocates.
The cabinet granted permission to lease out land (972 square metres) from the land purchased for parking of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam at Mussoorie, equal to the land previously leased to Garhwal Sabha Mussoorie, situated on the land received by the Tourism department, for construction of upper terminal point and parking for the ropeway project from Dehradun (Purukul village) to Mussoorie (Library Chowk).
