The Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan inspected the voter list revision work in Dehradun on Tuesday. He visited Ajabpur Kalan to check the door-to-door notice distribution process. Notices are being given to around 5.47 lakh voters whose details could not be matched with the 2003 and 2026 voter lists.
During the inspection, the DM visited the house of local resident Arvind Negi. A booth level officer (BLO) was giving him a notice because of a discrepancy in his name. The BLO also explained which documents were needed to correct the details.
The DM asked officials to make the process simple for BLOs. He directed the assistant district election officer to prepare a clear flowchart and checklist. These will help BLOs follow the correct process and avoid mistakes.
According to the draft voter list published on July 14, mapping of 11,90,805 voters has been completed in Dehradun district. Notices are also being issued where voter details are incomplete.
BLOs will visit the homes of these voters and hand over the notices personally. They will also upload photographs of the notice distribution on the Election Commission’s designated app.
Notebly, the Election Commission is conducting a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. The exercise aims to correct errors in voters names and other details. It also aims to fix mapping-related issues in the voter list.
The DM directed all electoral registration officers to complete the work carefully and within the given deadline.
