Committed to promote religious & cultural tourism in U’khand: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the State government is making efforts to promote religious and cultural tourism in Uttarakhand.
He was addressing the devotees at Vanaprastha Ashram, Yamkeshwar in Pauri district on Monday. Dhami also listened to the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha at the Ashram. He said that the Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta is an embodiment of Lord Krishn and it guides humanity on the path of religion, knowledge and devotion, providing a positive direction to life.
He said that the State government with the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made the Char Dham Yatra more accessible, safe and convenient by strengthening the Yatra routes.
The CM added that many ambitious and public welfare projects are being implemented to promote religious and cultural tourism in the State. He cited important development projects such as the construction of Ghats on the banks of the Yamuna River in the Kalsi-Haripur area, the Sharda Corridor, the Haridwar-Rishikesh Corridor and the establishment of the Centre for Hindu Studies at Doon University as examples. These measures will also strengthen the cultural identity of the State.
Local MLA Renu Bisht said that the development works in Yamkeshwar area have gained new momentum due to the effective working style of the State government. She said that the people of the area are getting extensive and direct benefits from the developmental activities undertaken by the State government.
Govind Dev Giri Ji Maharaj, who was reciting the Bhagwat Katha informed about the spiritual, cultural and moral importance of Shrimad Bhagwat and exhorted the devotees to follow the path of religion, faith and good deeds.
The head of Parmarth Niketan, Chidanand Saraswati said that Bhagwat Katha is not just a religious event, but it is a powerful medium to inspire the society towards moral values, spirit of service and high ideals of humanity.
