Koshyari to be conferred with Padma Bhushan

Former chief minister of Uttarakhand and veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader Bhagat Singh Koshyari will be conferred with the Padma Bhushan for his work in public affairs. The former governor of Maharashtra and Goa, Koshyari was born in 1942 in a village in Bageshwar district, Kosharyi joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and then the BJP. 

His initial education was in Almora and after that he studied English literature in Agra University. He worked in various positions in the BJP including its national general secretary and its first State president of Uttarakhand. Earlier during the Emergency, he was jailed for two years for opposing the draconian step taken by the government.

As a student, statesman, writer, and journalist, Koshyari is known to have devoted his life to the service of the nation.
