Connect skill development with incubation & growth centres: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the officers of the Skill Development and Labour department of the State to associate skill development with incubation and growth centres. He was presiding over a review meeting of the department at the State secretariat on Thursday.
In the meeting, the CM directed the officials that all the departments concerned should work in coordination to connect the youth in the State with skill development and employment. He asked the chief secretary to hold a meeting with the secretaries and make a concrete strategy in this regard.
Dhami said that training should be provided for local people in every district for jobs like plumber, electrician, carpenter and mechanic. Training courses should be prepared keeping in mind the demand of industries and future requirements. Modern machines, laboratories and smart classrooms should be established in training centres, he said.
The CM instructed the officials to connect people with skill development and training keeping in mind the traditional identity of every district. He said that along with increasing registration on the e-shram portal, all skilled workers should be brought under the ambit of social security. The CM instructed that a plan should be prepared for targeted rehabilitation related action for liberation from child labour.
Dhami said that special skill development centers should be established to increase the participation of women in the field of self-employment and ‘Skill on Wheels vans’ should be started in remote areas of the State.
Emphasising on contacting the Indian embassies in the concerned countries to connect the youth of the State with employment abroad in the healthcare and hospitality sectors, the CM directed to establish regular coordination with Doon University to provide foreign language courses to such youth. He added that all necessary arrangements should be made in the centres of excellence being set up in the districts.
The CM said that the department should present a clear action plan within 10 days regarding the long-term plan along with details of how many youth were linked to skill development and employment every year.
It was informed in the meeting that the Government of India has given its consent to provide one year training in ITI and one year training in industries to the candidates undergoing training in 27 ITI’s of the State under the two year course.
The vice chairman of Infrastructure Monitoring Council Vishwas Dawar, chief secretary Anand Bardhan, principal secretary RK Sudhanshu, secretaries Sridhar Babu Adanki, C Ravishankar and others attended the meeting.
