Rs 720 crore approved by MoRTH for improving NH stretches in State

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved a sum of Rs 720 crore for work on improvement of the Haridwar-Dehradun national highway. The sum has been approved for the project to be completed in the next two and a half years.
Rajya Sabha member and the Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt had raised a question in the Rajya Sabha seeking information about the incomplete works at Laltappar on NH 7 and at Motichur on NH 34. Those travelling between Haridwar and Dehradun, and Haridwar and Rishikesh face inconvenience due to the incomplete work on these stretches of the national highways. Bhatt sought the information considering the problems being faced by the public, especially the local residents, due to the incomplete works.
Responding to his question, the Union minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari informed that the task of improvement on the national highway 7 Dehradun-Laltappar-Nepali Farm stretch and national highway 34 Nepali Farm-Motichur division has been allocated. The contract for these works was signed on November 18. A total of Rs 720.67 crore will be spent on these works, and the said sum has been approved. The ministry has designated a period of 2.5 years for the completion of these works, it was informed.
