Dehradun administration enrolls 82 rescued children in schools under education initiative

Dehradun district administration has enrolled 82 rescued children in various schools under its education drive. The administration carried out this in two phases.  In the first phase, 51 children were admitted to various schools and in the second phase, 31 children were enrolled at Government Primary School at Parade Ground and Sadhuram Inter College. The Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal said that this initiative, guided by the vision- education for life upliftment, aims to bring children engaged in begging and child labour into the mainstream of education. The administration is running an intensive care centre to provide structured learning through music, yoga and sports, helping children shift their focus toward studies. Bansal said that he is personally monitoring the centre’s activities. The administration is constructing a new intensive care centre at Sadhuram Inter College with a cost of Rs 1.5 crore. The administration has presented 136 children before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) for care and protection from July to September while 138 were released from vulnerable conditions. Among them, 70 were involved in begging and 14 in child labour. Six children from other states were reunited with their families. Bansal said that the administration is taking all possible measures to ensure under- privileged children receive proper education and other basic facilities like other children to ensure they have a better and bright future.
