Following the failure of talks with the administration, the Dehradun Bar association has decided to intensify its ongoing agitation. On Tuesday, the coordination committee of the Bar association held a meeting with the district magistrate of Dehradun Savin Bansal but the talk ended in a failure.

The committee was formed on Tuesday during an open house meeting of the agitating advocates. A total of 15 members were selected, and advocate Prem Chand Sharma was made the chairman of the committee.  On the same day, the committee held its first meeting and also submitted a memorandum containing the main demands of the advocates. The district administration sent a written reply through three officers, but the committee was not satisfied with the response. The advocates have been requesting land for chambers for the last three years. They are of the view that five bighas of the land allotted to them is not enough for around 11,000 advocates in Dehradun.

During a meeting held on Wednesday, the committee discussed the administration’s letter and decided to intensify their protest.

The chairman of the committee Prem Chand Sharma averred that the protest will go on until the government agrees to their demands.
