Nayar valley possesses immense potential for adventure tourism: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the beautiful Nayar Valley possesses an immense potential for adventure tourism. He was addressing the Nayar Valley festival in Bilkhet of Pauri district on Thursday.
He said that the government is working for the development of the region, so that local youth can advance in their own field and get opportunities for self-employment. The CM said that the government’s goal is not only to formulate schemes, but also to ensure that the person standing last on the social ladder benefits from them.
In the festival, the CM formally inaugurated various adventure activities which included paragliding, hot air balloon, mountain biking, kayaking, angling, zipline, Burma bridge and reverse bungee. He said that the Nayar Valley region is suited for adventure tourism and such events will provide self-employment opportunities to local youth and strengthen the regional economy.
The CM said that many development projects are going on in the district. He said that the construction of the National Institute of Technology in Srinagar is underway at a cost of Rs 650 crore while a modern sewage treatment plant is being established at a cost of Rs 135 crore to make the Khoh river pollution-free and clean. Construction of the State’s first NCC academy in Gadia village of Pauri, a solid waste processing plant in Kotdwar at a cost of Rs 11 crore and a bridge over the Malan River are also underway.
He said that the historic collectorate building in Pauri is being preserved as a heritage site and an irrigation inspection building is being constructed in Satpuli. He said that projects such as the expansion of sports facilities in Kotdwar, the construction of a modern 50-bed hospital, the Science Museum, Trident Park, Satpuli Lake, the Mountain Museum and Planetarium at a cost of Rs. 20 crore will create new opportunities for tourism and employment in the district.
Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj said that the State government is committed to establish Uttarakhand as the major tourism and adventure destination.
