Dhami flags off 20 Tempo Travellers on Dehradun-Mussoorie & Haldwani-Nainital routes

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday flagged off 20 new air conditioned UTC mini Tempo Travellers operated by the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation. Out of these, 10 will run on the Dehradun-Mussoorie route and the remaining 10 on the Haldwani-Nainital route. The initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion between these high-traffic corridors.

Dhami also travelled in one of the Tempo Travellers from the CM’s Camp Office to the GTC Helipad during the event. Dhami said that the AC vehicles will strengthen the State’s transport network and provide safer and more accessible travel to passengers. He stated that the initiative will support both economic and tourism activities in Uttarakhand.

The government plans to expand such services if the current rollout proves effective. He also highlighted ongoing improvements in the Transport department, including digital ticketing, online booking and tracking systems. According to Dhami, these developments are part of efforts to make public transport more accessible and reliable across the State. He added that UTC has remained profitable for three consecutive years. He also announced that electric buses will soon be included in the transport fleet, with the procurement process already underway.

He also stated that the government had addressed various concerns of transport employees, including implementing the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, increasing dearness allowance and strengthening human resources through fresh recruitments. Cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, principal secretary and UTC chairman L Fenai, UTC managing director Reena Joshi and other departmental officials were present at the event.
