Uttarkashi district magistrate Prashant Arya stressed that negligence will not be tolerated in execution of the Jal Jeevan Mission.
Chairing a meeting focussed on forest land transfer issues and pending drinking water projects, he expressed displeasure over the slow pace of drinking water schemes. Arya ordered that corrective action be taken within 15 days in areas where pipelines date back to before 1980. He instructed all departments involved to coordinate effectively and complete their tasks within stipulated timelines.
The DM directed also officials to expedite pending forest land transfer proposals essential for the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission projects. “If any department is facing hurdles in forest land clearance, it must immediately inform the district magistrate’s office so that the issue can be resolved on time,” he said.
He also stressed that all forest land transfers must adhere strictly to environmental norms so that development does not come at the cost of ecological balance.
