The Doiwala police in Dehradun have registered a case against a doctor and hospital staff over the death of a patient during treatment at the government hospital in Doiwala, around nine months after the incident. The case was registered on the court’s orders following allegations of medical negligence by the patient’s family.
As per the complaint, Salman had been admitted to a drug de-addiction centre at Himalayan Health Hospital in Dehradun on November 10, 2025. On January 27, he complained of gas in his stomach at around 2 AM. The centre’s staff then took him to the government hospital in Doiwala, where the doctor on emergency duty began his treatment.
The complainant alleged that Salman’s condition deteriorated after an injection was administered and he died shortly afterwards. The family alleged negligence by the doctor and other hospital staff and approached the police, seeking action. However, after no case was registered, the complainant moved the court on May 2, under Section 175(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), seeking registration of a case and an investigation.
Following the court’s directions, the Doiwala police registered a case under Section 106 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The Doiwala police said that they would record the statements of the doctor and staff on duty and examine the post mortem report and medical records to establish the circumstances surrounding Salman’s death.
