Dehradun’s Ashu Satvika Goyal was formally honoured for her artistic leadership at the International Children’s Folklore Festival – Tarwa Art 2025, held in the city of Taroudant in Morocco. She was the only participant selected from India and was chosen from across the world as the sole artist entrusted with independently directing the entire festival in the role of an artistic director. The festival was organized by the Youth Association for Culture and Development (YACD).
Now in its third edition, the Tarwa Art Festival was held under the theme “Today’s Children, Tomorrow’s Leaders.” The festival emerged as a vibrant international platform for cultural exchange, celebrating global traditions while promoting peace and mutual understanding through the universal language of art.
As artistic director, Goyal played a pivotal role in shaping the festival’s artistic vision. She curated and guided a wide range of cultural performances that reflected the diversity and richness of global heritage arts. In addition to overseeing the performances, she conducted a creative workshop for children, mentoring young participants in the performing arts and coordinating the final collaborative performances showcased during the festival.
The festival featured a rich and diverse line up of traditional and folk performances by children and artists from the Sahara region, Morocco, Spain, India and Poland. The event also showcased traditional Moroccan performances representing the country’s diverse regional heritage. A special highlight of the festival was a collaborative children’s ensemble, bringing together young performers from the Sahara, Morocco, Spain, and Poland in a unique intercultural presentation that symbolised unity, friendship and shared cultural values.
Goyal was formally honoured by YACD for her commitment to cultural harmony and her role in strengthening Indo-Moroccan cultural relations. She expressed her gratitude to YACD president Mostafa Bazdim while stating that in an era marked by conflict, division and global uncertainty, cultural festivals serve as a powerful roadmap toward a more unified world—one where friendship transcends boundaries, hope is restored for future generations and shared creativity helps humanity move toward collective prosperity.
