Dehradun district administration continues to get complaints from elderly parents against their adult children. In a public hearing at the collectorate in Dehradun on Monday, a 74-year-old resident of Tapovan Enclave complained that his son was not providing financial support and was pressuring him to sell a portion of his private land.
The additional district magistrate (Administration) Jai Bharat Singh, who was chairing the hearing, directed the respective sub divisional magistrate to investigate the matter and take action against the guilty party accordingly. He stated that respective departments should be involved to ensure the parents get justice on time.
The ADM received 101 complaints, most of which were resolved on the spot. Complaints ranged from land disputes, encroachment, irrigation issues, water and electricity bills, compensation for disaster damage, financial aid and domestic violence. A 70-year-old disabled man from Kargi Grant also reported harassment by a co-sharer despite his name being listed in land records. The SDM was asked to conduct an inquiry.

In Vikasnagar, residents objected to high sound levels from loudspeakers in a local religious place. Complaints also included cutting of trees in Rampur Kala for setting up a factory, damage to sewer lines during smart city works on Haridwar Road, flood safety work and illegal road blockage.
