Get raise in SFI to match Centre’s commission rate, orders Arya

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Rekha Arya said that the proposal to raise State Food Incentive (SFI) commission to match the Central government’s commission rate is under consideration and directed officials to get it approved before Deepawali.

She also instructed officials to bring uniformity in the payment of commission and transport charges to ration dealers. She gave the instructions during a meeting with the All India Fair Price Shop Dealers Federation and departmental officers at the Vidhan Sabha on Monday. Arya said that different districts are following different timelines for payments to ration dealers.

She asked officials to allocate the central budget in a way that ensures no district has any pending dues. She instructed officials to introduce variety in the pulses distributed through ration shops so that beneficiaries do not receive only one type. She also asked them to ensure that the price of pulses supplied through ration shops remains lower than the market rate.

The minister directed officials to increase the commission given to dealers on pulses distribution and to appoint more engineers to repair faulty Electronic Point of Sale (ePoS) machines. She said the ePoS system is currently under a pilot phase and the data may contain errors. She advised district supply officers to avoid strict action against dealers based solely on this data.
