SSP enters field to manage Kanwad Yatra traffic in Rishikesh

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh entered the field on July 21, as the last Monday of the Kanwad Mela led to a heavy influx of Dak Kanwadiyas and other devotees heading towards Neelkanth for Jalabhishek. The increased movement caused significant traffic congestion in the Rishikesh area on Monday.

A severe traffic jam developed at Shyampur railway crossing due to a train passing which led to the closure of the crossing gate. Singh, along with Rishikesh SP, reached the location and ensured traffic movement resumed. He also issued necessary instructions to the officers present to manage the situation.

During this, the SSP noticed a motorcyclist in a semi-conscious state due to the traffic jam and humid weather. The devotee’s blood pressure was low and he was losing strength. Singh reached the devotee, helped him off the bike and gave him water and lemon drink for initial relief.

An ambulance was arranged immediately and the devotee was sent to the nearest hospital for treatment. Singh parked the devotee’s motorcycle at the roadside and helped streamline the traffic.

He instructed officers to remain available for assistance to Kanwad pilgrims and take strict action against any disorderly behaviour.
