Heat wave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated places in the plains and adjoining hills areas on Tuesday. According to the State Meteorological Centre, no significant change is likely to occur in the maximum temperature during the next 2-3 days. However, the maximum temperature will gradually fall by 2-4 degrees Celsius during the subsequent 3-4 days thereafter in the State.
The centre has forecast that very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts while dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. Thunder cloud development is likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 41 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively.
On Monday, the temperatures in the plains and many mountainous regions were above normal though trace rain was also reported in some mountainous regions. The maximum and minimum temperatures were 40.4 degrees Celsius and 24.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 40.4 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 29.4 degrees Celsius and 15.4 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 30.1 degrees Celsius and 16.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Trace rainfall was reported in Garud, Gauchar and Harshil.
