Hindi Journalism Day observed: Tender issued for UPC bldg

A symposium and journalist felicitation ceremony were held at the Uttaranchal Press Club to mark the Hindi Journalism Day on Saturday. Veteran journalists and writers aside from those deeply associated with the media world were present.
Addressing the commemorative gathering, the president of the Uttaranchal Press Club, Ajay Rana shared that with the support of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the director general of the Information and Public Relations department, Banshidhar Tiwari, the tender process for the much-awaited UPC building construction has been launched. “The construction work will hopefully begin soon,” he added. The additional director, Information and Public Relations department, Ashish Tripathi said that the responsibility of journalists has immensely increased in this changing technological era where the flow of information has become exponentially faster.
A veteran writer, Jitendra Thakur said that both literature and journalism are mirrors of the society. “While literature expresses society’s sensibilities, journalism serves to convey the voice of the public to the government and administration,” he added.
Another writer and poet, Atul Sharma said that while journalism has undergone a profound transformation in today’s digital age, its core values remain as important today as ever.
The founder president of the Uttaranchal Press Club, Devendra Bhasin said that despite facing multiple challenges these days, the journalists should never compromise with their dignity and credibility.
Senior litterateur and journalist, Somwari Lal Uniyal said that journalism used to be considered a mission in the past.
Among those present were the senior vice-president, UPC, Gajendra Singh Negi and general secretary, Yogesh Semwal.
