FIR filed after unidentified woman’s body recovered in Premnagar

With more than 24 hours having passed, Dehradun police have not yet identified the body of a woman found in a forest area near Bala Sundari Temple in Premnagar. Police have registered an FIR against an unidentified person in connection with the case on Thursday.

According to police, the body was found inside a sack (katta) in the forest area and appeared to be about four to five days old. The SP City, Pramod Kumar said that the body of the woman had been recovered from a sack in Premnagar area. The body has been sent to the mortuary of a Government Doon Hospital. Police are trying to identify the woman. Officers have been asked to check CCTV footage from nearby areas and the fingerprints have also been taken to help in identification.

Police have also asked nearby police stations to provide details of women reported missing in the last one to two weeks. Information is also being collected about tenants or people living in the area, especially those who may have come from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, to check if any woman from these regions has been reported missing.

Kumar added that the Forensic Science Laboratory team has collected evidence from the spot. The team carried out photography and videography of the area and examined the scene. The cause of the death is yet to be ascertained as post-mortem has not been held. Police said they would send the body to post-mortem after waiting for three days for identification.  

After receiving information about the incident, Pramendra Dobal also reached the spot and took details from the officers present there. Police said that separate teams have been formed to identify the deceased woman.
